Cute and random photos

I have a bunch of videos to post of Quintin eating solids for the first time...they're actually quite fun to watch and to see how babies adjust to real foods, but I can't get them loaded on blogger for some reason. I have given up trying to get them loaded onto this blog and have now turned the challenge over to my husband to figure out. So, until he figures it out, I'll just post these cute, random photos of baby Q.

We bought him this activity/bumbo chair thing before he was born and I have been trying for the past couple of months to get him to like it, finally the other day he realized that it's not so bad and now will sit in it for hours...as long as he has the entire chair and try filled with toys. He seriously loves it and loves having 10 different toys surrounding him. Maybe this is a sign that he is going to be a good multi-tasker!

I have been making all of my own baby food for Q and the other day I got down blending/pureeing sweet potatoes and handed him the spatula to lick...he went crazy and devoured them, but in the process of devouring them his face took a beating. I like to title these pictures Quintin vs the sweet potatoes-who do you think won?

This little monkey usually sits in his crib...notice the tag...the monkey no longer sits in the crib because little Q likes to chew on tags and decided to have a midnight snack and ate half the tag. The kid seriously loves tags. Half of the time he could care less about the actual toy along as it has a tag he's happy.

This is the hands free approach to playing...Quintin finds it easier to hold his toys in his mouth without hands so that his hands can be free to grab other toys if needed.

Q loves this little Noah's Ark set that he has. Notice how he is hoarding the animals..one is in his mouth and he has like 3 tucked under his arms. If I started to play with the animals he would start hoarding them like this. I think we're going to have to work on sharing with others :)

I was trying to take a picture of him and as soon as he saw the camera in my hands he got right in front of it...I love how the picture turned out though.

2 weeks ago he got his first tooth on the bottom and then 4 days later the second tooth popped up. All I can say...is PRAISE THE LORD! Those 2 teeth almost got the best of Quintin and I! He was is in so much pain for a few days. All he wanted to do was chew on my finger, nothing else soothed his pain. I am happy to report though that my fingers survived and now with those teeth I am more hesitant to let him chew on my fingers :)!
The other exciting news is that our little man can sit up (for the most part) on his own now! He can do it for a good 5-10 minutes and then all of sudden will realize that he is tired or that it's too much work and will just fall over..then he laughs or smiles about falling over.

Oh the cuteness!!!! This kid brightens and brings so much happiness into our lives!

As promised

As promised...here is my post about Christmas before Valentines Day! I thought since Valentines Day was only 4 days away I better make an attempt to keep my promises.  Christmas was especially fun this year with Quintin! I don't think he totally got the idea of it, but I am sure he will before we know it! He got some pretty neat gifts and so did Robert and I. We started the morning off by going to church, which as a side note was a pretty awesome way to start Christmas off! After church we came home and changed into comfy clothes and opened gifts so that we could then get Q down for a nap since Sundays are hard on the little guy due to his nap and feeding schedule being thrown slightly off. After we got the little guy down Robert and I enjoyed our Christmas brunch of caramel french toast...and if you were wondering if it was any good...let me just tell you it was pretty much the best thing we have ever had! Once we were finished with brunch we started preparing our dinner feast..we had a new couple in our ward over for dinner with their 18 month old daughter. We served ham, double stuff potatoes, asparagus, salad, rolls, and cranberry vanilla bread pudding. I felt bad for Quintin..he was the only one at the table who couldn't have any...he eyed all of our plates the whole night! Christmas 2011 brought a ton of great memories and great fun!

Here is a video of Quintin attempting to get the hang of opening his gifts...ignore my voice in the video. I HATE the way I sound in videos..I sound like I am 10 years old!

Waiting for dad to put the camera down so we can dive in!
We love our stained concrete floors but Quintin doesn't quite have the same love for them as we do, so Santa brought him some foam puzzle mats for the hard floors. Since he is a roller and scooter now he loves them, and it has significantly lowered my anxiety about him being on our hard floors and the possibility of a TBI (traumatic brain injury) because of them! Yes..I am a slightly paranoid mom (hard to tell right???)
Quintin has become a Baylor fan...for Christmas we gave him some Baylor PJ's-dang he's cute!
Notice the spoon in his hand...he loves chewing on my cooking spoons and rubber spatulas!

I have a ton of random cute pictures I need to post....stay tuned!

Quintin's baby blessing

We blessed our sweet baby boy in church over Thanksgiving weekend so that we could have family here for it. Robert gave him a beautiful blessing. It was such a special day and the words spoken in the blessing were powerful and yet also calming and peaceful as I think about raising this precious little baby boy. I loved listening to Robert give him the blessing because as I listened I could hear in his words just how much he and our Heavenly Father loves Quintin. I was so grateful for all of the family and friends who supported us and Quintin on such a special day.

So much catching up to do!

Well, I had grand intentions of blogging about Thanksgiving and Quintin's blessing before Christmas, but it didn't happen. Things got in the way, things like a little virus that hit I, Robert, and Quintin, a massive ward Christmas party that I and the rest of the Relief Society was in charge of, shopping for Christmas gifts, Robert had finals and had tithing settlements for the first half of December which left me being a single parent. Life has now slowed down a little bit for now and it's time to play catch up. Christmas was great and I WILL blog about it before Valentines day I promise, but lets start with Thanksgiving and work our way to Christmas.

For Thanksgiving we were lucky enough to have Robert's parents and his older brother and his wife come this year. We had a great time with them being here and Quintin enjoyed being the center of attention with his Oma and Opa. He also got to meet his Uncle Red (Jared) and Aunt Erin for the first time and he now counts them as a couple of his BFF's!

After traveling all day and a 3 hour drive from Austin, TX because of traffic Oma and Opa got to relax with this little munchkin!

We love these 2! Erin and Jared just chilling after a very successful day of shopping on black friday...we weren't crazy this year and didn't leave the house until 9 am, but we still managed to find good deals and then came home to relax and play games and feasted on leftovers and popcorn from our awesome popcorn store here in Waco.

Here's baby Q hanging with his new homey...Uncle Red watching Transformers, enjoying some quality "man" time! Poor Quintin is exposed to many chic flicks because he spends the majority of his time at home with me so he was very grateful for a chance to hang with some "dudes" when Erin and I ran to Target for some things.

I think he got the roasting pan confused with his bassinet! Or maybe he was jealous of the Turkey's crib and wanted to try it out!

We had a great Thanksgiving and loved having family here to spend it with. We were grateful that our good friends the Eagars got to also spend it with us. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, I love the time spent with family and friends over delicious food...which we had, but sadly didn't take any pictures of this year!
